You’re probably here because you are willing to take action
Perhaps, like most of us at some stage in our lives, you are facing personal struggle. Maybe the expectations and demands of this modern-day world is catching up with you. Or perhaps it’s that you have dared to have it all, hustling hard year after year, chasing success at work and trying to create a “picture perfect” life. On the surface you’ve been ticking off goals, living what you thought would be your best life…and yet, you find yourself a bit lost. Behind the scenes, there may be a growing sense of dissatisfaction that you can’t shake off, stress and overwhelm, or even a loss of confidence and purpose.

I want you to know that you are human.
I’ve been there too.
My name is Debanjali Sengupta, and I am the Founder of The Life Balance Movement (LBM). I too have a story of personal struggle, having spent years chasing goals that were meant to be my recipe for success and happiness. Instead, it left me feeling deeply unfulfilled and struggling with periods of burnout, depression, anxiety and eventually, personal loss. Reclaiming my life required digging deep and making profound changes that led to a path of recovery. Eventually I started The Life Balance Movement as a way of helping others do the same. The Life Balance Movement is my way of paying it forward – so you don’t have to wait for setbacks in life to seek balance. It is possible to aspire and achieve, without sacrificing your health and wellbeing.

“The power to build a healthy, balanced world lies in transforming individual lives…

The Life Balance Movement is committed to creating a positive ripple effect, one person at a time!”

My Mission

If there’s one thing I have learnt from my personal struggles, it’s that mindset is everything.

Empowering our mindset is the key to wellbeing, balance and fulfillment in life. We boldly challenge stereotypes for ‘success’ that lends itself to stress, fatigue and burnout. Instead, we cultivate a mindset where success is redefined to living a life of purpose and fulfillment – in a healthy and balanced way.

The Life Balance Movement is a culmination of years of experience, learning and growth.

Underpinning it is a rigour borrowed from a corporate career in management consulting and project management spanning over 15 years (and counting) – taking time to ensure that The Life Balance Movement is synonymous with quality, research-based coaching, content and processes.

Frequently Asked Questions

The term ‘work-life balance’ tends to divide life into two equal parts – work and life, which we think is rather incomplete.

We like analogies, so imagine a ‘wheel of life’ with different spokes that represent career, health, family and so on. Every person has their own version of this wheel according to what’s important to them. If the spokes are out of balance, it can make for a very uncomfortable ride – and sometimes, it can even cause an accident!

The Life Balance Movement challenges you to think bigger and broader than ‘work-life balance’ – we can help you define what’s important in your wheel of life, and how to bring it to balance.

The NeuroLeadership Institute defines coaching as “facilitating positive change by expanding thinking.” Coaching is a skill designed to facilitate a conversation that brings about a positive change in a person’s thinking, which then results in a positive change in their actions or behaviours. The role of the coach is to help people think better to achieve their desired goals (rather than tell them what to do).

Coaching is focused on where the coachee is right now (current state), looking forward to where they want to be in future (desired state) and work out how to get there (bridging the gap). There is less emphasis on analysing the past, making it distinct from counselling.

There are skills in common between coaching and counselling, however counselling requires a different set of qualifications. The Life Balance Movement does not offer counselling.

A brain-based approach to coaching simply means that the coaching tools and strategies are based on an understanding of how the human brain functions and on findings from neuroscience research.

The Life Balance Movement observes the Results Coaching SystemTM methodology which has a brain-based approach to coaching developed by the NeuroLeadership Institute.

You are likely to consider coaching at a point when you are truly ready to take action and willing to do the work required to achieve your goals. While you are always the expert in your life, coaching can offer expertise in the right tools and strategies, and support to make sure you achieve what you set out to.

The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as a partnership that “maximises a person’s personal and professional potential”. One ICF study cites benefits of improved work performance, time management, self-confidence, communication, enhanced relationships, better work-and-life balance and an improvement in wellness.Sounds pretty good to us – but we recommend you try it for yourself to see!

The Life Balance Movement offers ‘structured coaching’ and ‘discovery coaching’ to suit your individual style and preference.

Structured coaching involves a program of 12 weeks based on defining goals and follows an evidence-based framework to support you working towards those defined goals.

Discovery coaching is a more fluid and exploratory style of coaching with evidence-based tools and strategies to support a conversation on what’s most important to you at the time – you choose what you want to be coached on for the day.

Coaching is most effective when there is the ‘right fit’ between the coach, coachee and the coaching approach. If you are someone who is open to receiving support, willing to put in the work required to get the outcomes you need, and prefer an evidence-based approach to coaching tools and strategies, The Life Balance Movement could very well be the right fit.

There is only one way to be sure though – book in for a complimentary session and find out!
